Of Labels and Babies

Mirabelle has a knack of making much effort to insert labels of toys into her mouth, rather than the toy itself.  This is odd for many reasons.  First, the label is surely not as satisfying as a big chunk of wood or cloth.  Second, it requires a very high level of coordination to align her still unsteady hands and her mouth such that the label can go into her mouth.  Finally, the label itself does not seem to be particularly prominent, especially in her cube (see link for a picture).  A baby’s mind is hard to fathom.
